祝贺 Windows Live 部门企业副总裁克里斯琼斯（Chris Jones）已经升职为微软高级副总裁，他的资料已经在本月 2 日更新。
微软近一年来的高层变动 – 服务器与工具部门总裁 Bob Muglia、微软首席软件架构师 Ray Ozzie、前商业软件部门总裁 Stephen Elop、前娱乐与设备部门总裁 Robbie Bach 的离开，看似是在巩固 Steve Ballmer 和 Steven Sinofsky（克里斯琼斯的直接上司）的权力。
Windows Live 部门“新增”了一位资深管理者意味着什么？微软官方最近的一篇博文暗示 Windows Live 以 Messenger 和 Hotmail 为中心的时代已经过去？微软豪赌 Facebook 将成为 Windows Live 的新增长点？
微软 Windows Live Messenger 与 Facebook 的合作可谓成绩显著：去年 11 月，1000 万用户将 Facebook 绑定到了 Messenger，如今（仅过了 3 个月）这一数字已几乎翻倍，到达了 1800 万。并且 Messenger 的 Facebook Chat 功能已驱动了 28 亿分钟的 Facebook Chat 聊天（最近又向新一批 7500 万用户开放这一功能）。随着 Facebook 用户数的疯涨，刚才提到的这些数字肯定还将继续增长。
当然，Windows Live 自身的用户数也相当庞大：5 亿 Windows Live ID，其中 3.3 亿 Messenger 用户，Hotmail 用户数也基本相同。但在我们关注 Windows Live 的这 5 年里，它们增长得并不多。
试图整合主流社交网络的 Windows Live 目前仍缺少 twitter，至今也没有消息将何时或是否开放像 Facebook 那般的整合。在 Windows Live 社交整合平台上除了 Facebook 外，用户连接最多的两家服务就是 YouTube 和 MySpace 了，但很显然 MySpace 大势已去。
当年，尤其是每隔几周就有 Windows Live 更新的时期（Spaces 还发展迅速的时期），我们一致认为 Windows Live 有机会在社交网络方面领先。但如今 Windows Live 服务已然演变为了 Facebook 客户端和社交网络阅读器的 Messenger 、不错但更新缓慢的 Hotmail、诸多承诺有待兑现的数据同步和存储服务 Mesh & SkyDrive、还有一些“大杂烩”– 和 Windows Live 有密切整合的 Windows Phone Live 和 Office Web Apps。

As senior vice president of Windows Live at Microsoft Corp., Chris Jones leads the engineering team for Windows Live software and services, including Hotmail, Messenger, SkyDrive, and Essentials. Prior to his role running the engineering team, he led the program management and product planning teams for Windows Live.
Before joining the Windows Live team, Jones worked several years as a vice president in both program management and engineering in the Windows division, contributing to Windows XP and Windows Vista. Prior to his work on Windows, Jones worked as general manager and group program manager for Internet Explorer, and supported the shipment of Internet Explorer versions 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0. Other positions he has held in program management at Microsoft range from consumer e-mail to desktop publishing.
Jones joined Microsoft in 1991. He holds a bachelor's degree in mathematical and computational sciences from Stanford University.
